Goodreads Synopsis<\/strong><\/p>\nWhat must a man do in order to put an end to his bachelorhood? For George Finch, one of nature’s white mice and probably the worst artist ever to put brush to canvas, there are many obstacles. Undoubtedly the greatest is his beloved Molly’s fearsome stepmother, Mrs. Waddington, who has her eye on an eligible English lord for a son-in-law. Luckily, George has an ally in sharp-witted Hamilton Beamish, an old family friend of the Waddingtons, not to mention George’s butler, Mullett, and his light-fingered girlfriend, Fanny, whose valuable skills are of particular interest to the would-be father-in-law.<\/p>\n
My Review<\/strong><\/p>\nI knew that P.G Wodehouse was a popular author but I didn’t know what his books were like and had never read anything by him. Luckily, I stumbled upon a collection of his books in my school library. I picked this book to read first because it was a stand-alone. For some reason I thought this book is a mystery but it is actually a drama.<\/p>\n
The plot moves at a good pace. The writing and narrative is interesting and very different from what I usually read. Some parts of the book are very ridiculous and funny. The humor is completely different than anything I’ve ever read. There are some very hilarious quotes in the book too. The narration is very quirky and refreshing. There is a love-at-first-sight kind of romance but it fit well with the book. There is not a single boring moment in the book. Every character is unique and interesting.<\/p>\n
I liked every part of this book- the plot, the characters and the narration. The romance was very cute despite being cheesy. There were some twists and new characters towards the end and the plot turned out to be more dramatic and complex than I expected. This is a very witty book.<\/p>\n
I highly recommend this book if your’re looking for something light-hearted and funny to read. I’m really looking forward to reading more books by Wodehouse.<\/p>\n
