A Little Princess<\/em> is the story of a little girl called Sara Crewe. Sara’s wealthy father who is in India sends Sara to Miss Minchin’s Select Seminary for Young Ladies in London for her education. Sara is a very calm and composed child. She speaks more like a grown-up than a kid. She is kind, humble and a quick learner. She loves making up stories. Her world is turned upside down when her father died, leaving her with no wealth. From having all the comfort in the world, she goes to have nothing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I started reading this book knowing nothing about it, so the doom that followed Sarah Crewe was a surprise to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whenever we read a rag to riches story or vice versa, we always hear that it changes a person. But Sara was different. Even in the most cruel circumstances, Sara did not forget her selflessness and positivity. She didn’t lash out against her torturers. She coped by pretending she is a princess. She helped those who had it worse than her. Even when she was wealthy and comfortable, she did not forget that there are little children out there living in poverty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I learned something important from this book, and that is the power of kindness. The people Sara was kind to when she was rich were the ones who comforted her when she had nothing. And Sara did not forget their kindness. Friendship is beyond wealth and poverty and in times such as those, people truly realize who their friends are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a lovely book. I actually bought it accidentally. In a hurry, I got it because I thought it was The Little Prince<\/em> by Antoine de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry. Isn’t it amazing how you sometimes just stumble across beautiful books?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This book should be read by everyone – child or adult. It is a story that can inspire all of us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
