It is written in the form of diary entries of middle-grade student Greg Heffley. He writes about his daily life including his school, family and his best friend Rowley. I have only read the first two books in this series and my thoughts are going to be based on just them.

These books are funny and very easy to get through. I think the characters were very realistic and relatable for middle-grade children. Also, I really loved reading about Greg’s little brother Manny in the second book.

Despite these, I can’t ignore how mean and selfish the main character is. It would have been better if there had been some character development in him and he would have realized his faults.

These books show a realistic portrayal of how kids sometimes think and behave. Greg isn’t very nice but he is a realistic character and fun to read about. However, I think kids could be badly influenced by these books thinking that the things he does are okay. The books don’t give any positive message either. I guess the key to really loving these books is to not take them seriously.

I might continue with these series if I find the others in my library because, despite their faults, they are fun to read.

Goodreads Amazon Genre: Humor, Children My Rating: 3 stars

Continue reading ➞ Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney (Review of Books 1 and 2)

[3
44,85,99,118,152,187,251,376,383
post-6684","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-book-reviews","tag-authors","tag-book-review","tag-books","tag-childrens-book","tag-diary-of-a-wimpy-kid","tag-fiction","tag-jeff-kinney","tag-reading","tag-review
April was an okayish month for me in terms of reading.
