Hello everyone. How are you all?
Recently, I’ve seen a lot of people do the ‘Down The TBR Hole’ posts and I decided to give it a try as well. This meme seems really fun and a great way to reduce your TBR and since my Goodreads TBR shelf has about 1,900 books, I think this is a good decision. I’m not sure yet if I’ll do more of these posts but let’s just see how it goes.
This was created by Lost in a Story!
The Rules:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Click on the book titles to go to their Goodreads/Amazon page.
Current TBR Shelf Count: 1911
Note: I’m not going through them in any particular order
1. The Petpost Secret by Radhika R. Dhariwal
Date Added: October 22, 2014
The reason I added this book was because I read about it in the newspaper when it came out and it sounded very interesting. I never got around to buying it or saw anyone else I knew reading it so I forgot about it. It has good reviews, still sounds interesting and its pretty cheap.
Verdict: Keep
2. Mostly Madly Mayil by Sowmya Rajendran
Date added: October 22, 2014
This is a middle-grade book. I recently read a book by this author which was way below my age group even though I did like it and it was well written. This book sounds good and since I already know that the author’s writing is good, I’ll keep it.
Verdict: Keep
3. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
Date Added: Nov 15, 2014
This is a classic horror book. I haven’t read anything by Shirley Jackson and this seems a popular book.
Verdict: Keep
4. Okay for Now by Gary D. Schmidt
Date Added: Dec 01, 2014
A YA book that deals with some heavy themes. It doesn’t sound very unique but it has a lot of great reviews.
Verdict: Keep
5. The Guest Who Stayed (The Destiny Series #1) by Roger Penfound
Date Added: Dec 02, 2014
A book about the lives of three people in the middle of war. This book doesn’t sound bad but I know I will never get to it.
Verdict: Delete
7. Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood #1) by J.R. Ward
Date Added: Dec 16, 2014
This is a very long paranormal romance series. Though I barely read books like this anymore, I might read this someday if I’m looking for something fun or trashy to read
Verdict: Keep
8. Everything for a Dog (A Dog’s Life #2) by Ann M. Martin
Date Added: Dec 31, 2014
This is the sequel to A Dog’s Life: The Autobiography of a Stray. I read it years ago and really liked it
Verdict: Keep
9. Steampunk! An Anthology of Fantastically Rich and Strange Stories by Various Authors
Date Added: Mar 01, 2015
Short Story collection by many popular authors. I might pick this up since i haven’t read much of steampunk
Verdict: Keep
10. The Warrior Heir (The Heir Chronicles #1) by Cinda Williams Chima
Date Added: Mar 04, 2015
A YA fantasy series with magic. There’s a huge possibility I may never read this but it sounds too good to remove
Verdict: Keep
11. Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Meyer
Date Added: Mar 04, 2015
Ya, Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I feel like I’m one of the few people who hasn’t read this series. It sounds good and has great reviews
Verdict: Keep
12. The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1) by Mary E. Pearson
Date Added: Mar 05, 2015
This book does sound good but it seems to have a love triangle and that is something I’d rather not go near.
Verdict: Delete
13. A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire #1)by George R.R. Martin
Date Added: Mar 10, 2015
I’m actually currently reading this so I’m removing this from my to-be-read shelf
Verdict: Delete
14. The Giver (The Giver #1) by Lois Lowry
Date Added: Mar 10, 2015
It sounds good and everyone seems to love it.
Verdict: Keep
15. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Date Added: Mar 10, 2015
This is a no brainer. I really want to read this book but I always miss buying it.
Verdict: Keep
16. Uglies (Uglies #1) by Scott Westerfeld
Date Added: Mar 10, 2015
This is a YA dystopian series and it doesn’t sound at all interesting to me.
Verdict: Delete
17. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
I watched the TV Show and I immediately wanted to read the book but now suddenly. I don’t really have much interest in reading it. I will probably read it since I already have the copy but I’m removing it from the shelf.
Verdict: Delete
18. Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver
I’d rather read one of her contemporary books first.
Verdict: Delete
19. Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #1) by Maggie Stiefvater
Not interested in a wolf romance and this one has some terrible reviews.
Verdict: Delete
20. Beautiful Creatures (Beautiful Creatures #1) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
This doesn’t sound interesting to me at all. I can find better fantasy books to read.
Verdict: Delete
Final verdict: Deleted 8 out of 20 books
Which books have been on your TBR for the longest? Would you like to see more of these posts from me? Let me know down below!
Sounds interesting. I shall do it too 🙂
Will look forward to your post😘
I haven’t read Cinder either so you have a mate 😛 I hope you enjoy A game of Thrones. Book Thief is one of my FAVOURITE books so I hope you enjoy that too.
I’ll be a bit biased here, I’m really looking forward to reading Shiver but simply because I adore Maggie Stiefvater 😀
I might pick up Shiver from the library next week. Almost done with AGOT. I so wanna read The Book Thief!
What a great idea! I don’t even know how long my Goodreads TBR is… it definitely needs editing though. I look forward to seeing more of these posts 🙂
Thank you!
The Giver’s a excellent book! Ending is unclimatic, but still an excellent ready. 🙂
Okay. Will surely read it sometime.
This is a great idea.. I’ll definitely try and do this 😉. And Cinder and The Book thief are on ny tbr as well.,so you are not alone 😋
Would love to read your post 😊 Maybe we could finally read The Book Thief someday
