Book Review: Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods by Rick Riordan

image

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Mythology
My Rating: 5 stars

“Hermes played a little Mozart and some One Direction, and Apollo cried, ‘I must have it! The girls will go wild for that!”

I loved this book! It is narrated by Percy Jackson, the protagonist of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Percy’s narration is hilarious and fantastic. He starts from the beginning, telling us how the world began and continues with the stories of all the major Olympian gods.

The narration was filled with modern-day references and Percy’s sass and humour. I wouldn’t have enjoyed this book if it weren’t for the narration. The book felt more like an original YA book than a retelling of the Greek myths. I am even more excited now to read Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes which is the sequel to this book.
