Waiting For Regina follows the story of a young girl called Mispha, a dark girl from a Haitian-Jamaican black family, and her friend Regina from the time they are in high school to adulthood. It is described as a coming-of-age story and is built around the theme of racism.

The book begins with the narrator telling us about some atrocious things happening around the world. The rest of the book is written in the form of a letter from Mispha, who is now an adult, to her friend Regina while narrating their time in high school.

Mispha relates instances of when she is teased because of her skin colour by her peers. It was very saddening and on some levels, i could relate too. This book touches the issues of colorism and racism in the world deeply. It talks about some very real issues. The book also shows everyone has different opinions and theories about things.

The writing was good but not something that I particularly enjoy. It didn’t flow well and was very formal. Writing is one of the most important parts of a book for me and the writing of this book just didn’t fit well with the story.

This book had some great characters. I loved Miss Ollie. She was a wonderful woman. She was selfless in her love for the girls. She lifted them up and helped them with everything. We really need more people like her in our society. The book showed that people like her exist- who are ready to stand up for other people to whom society is unfair. Her relationship with Mispha and Regina was very sweet.

I also loved the friendship between Mispha, Regina and Sally. It was very innocent and pure, The girl were very young but they faced harsh things and they had worldy opinions and were also very intelligent.

Mispha’s parents were amazing. They were kind, supportive and they taught Mispha never to be ashamed of who she was . They were great people who beloved in what was right and truly supported their children. Sally’s parents weren’t ideal. They were flawed but realistic.

I learned a lot from Mispha and I wish to be as brave as her. Mispha and Regina both were pure, gentle souls who aspired to make the world a better place.

This book talks about racism very emotional way. It is very sad and cruel but also enlightening.

There are lots of friendships in this book which is one of its main themes. It also shows the pain of losing a friend, the importance of family and friends and how their love can help us overcome all the unfairness of society. It also portrays a great student-teacher relationship. Mispha and Regina shared a beautiful bond. Sally’s tale was very sad and but realistic.

This book gives a simple  message, yet one which is very hard to accomplish. Don’t discriminate people on the colour of their skin. We are all different, but also the same as we are all creations of nature.

This book gives hope us for a better world and i applaud the author in taking a step towards writing it. It saddened me and warmed my heart at the same time. It is very inspiring and I highly suggest people to read it.

I also think the writing and narration of this book could be a lot better with some editing.

Waiting For Regina is a beautiful and unique story.

Thank you for the review and especially being truthful, Waiting for Regina was a special challenge. It is a debut novel with serious themes, a project liken of a short-order preparing a complex cuisine better handled by a world class chef. It was a tall order indeed.
My college English instructor Ms. W may arrive with the same viewpoint as yours. Her example as a published writer help geared me to revised the publication a second and third time in Spring 2017.
Readers deserve the best quality of writership above pulp fiction upholding the high standards of American English language. Your review is aiding us to continue to aim for those high marks. My sincere gladness the people in the book stood out in your view with believable motivations and qualities. What assisted me are the outstanding positive examples in my lifetime. In our modern world, many unhealthy personalities and poor examples get prime time attention on the Internet and media elsewhere. In your recognition, it is wish my attempt here may encourage other novice authors to embrace the literary freedom to express themselves about the moral excellence we need more of in our societies.
