My daddy told me he has always lived an honest living
Like his own dad did
In other words, don’t screw someone over.
Karma is debatable but why test it?

Perhaps this is why I could never understand
How could someone step over the deserving
Or grab their prize
But most of all, rejoice in their pain.

I think of doing the same.
All the glory, none of the labour.
How good it would feel.
A painless trip to the top of the ladder.

But something stops me.
The voice of my unborn successor—
If you cheat, who would tell us not to?

Hi everyone! I am participatning in NaPoWriMo – National Poetry Writing Month for the first time. Check out http://www.napowrimo.net for more information. For this challenge, I will be writing and posting one poem here every day in the month of April. There is a prompt for each day but I am not restricting myself to follow them. I am not the best at any kind of challenges and so, I just want to finish this one and fun with it.

Are you participating in NaPoWriMo? Leave a link to your poem below and I’d love to check it out! Also, feel free to share your thoughts on mine.
