Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week is a movie freebie and for this I chose to make a list of the Top 10 Movies I Watched In 2016.
I watched more movies and tv shows this year than I have ever watched. Therefore, this list was quite difficult to make but I managed to narrow it down. These are in the order of which I watched first.
1. The Breakfast Club (1985)
I absolutely loved this movie! I also watched F.R.I.E.N.D.S this year so I was already in the 80’s mood. This movie is something I know I’m gonna watch every chance I get. “Don’t You Forget About Me” is still stuck in my head 😀
2. Room (2015)
I loved Room by Emma Donoghue and this movie was quite the buzz when it came out. I didn’t have much expectations from it as my experience with book-to-movie adaptations hadn’t been great when I watched this. So it came as a surprise when I ended up really enjoying it 🙂
3. Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013)
This is truly one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. The acting was brilliantly done and did complete justice to the story. I liked it as much as I liked the graphic novel.
4. Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009)
I might be the only Hannah Montana fan who watched this movie so late. I didn’t have much expectations from it due to the low rating but somehow I really enjoyed it and ended up watching it thrice since then.
5. Almost Famous (2000)
This movie left me speechless. I absolutely loved the story. Everything about this movie was just so refreshing and different. It really blew me away.
6. It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
This movie was sooo good! It gave such an amazing message and left me in tears. I think this might be the perfect time of the year to re-watch this.
7. Easy A (2010)
This movie is in no way just a regular teen movie. It was bold and different and I really enjoyed it.
8. The Kite Runner (2007)
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I wanted to watch the movie ever since I read it. It did not disappoint me and I loved seeing the story play out on the screen.
9. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005)
I loved this book series by Ann Brashares. I read it a long time ago but the story and the characters stayed with me. Again, I didn’t expect a lot from the movie but it was much better than i thought it would be.
10. How I Live Now (2013)
I just watched this movie a few days ago. I read the book by Meg Rosoff a few years back and it was one of the first YA books I read. The story is very memorable and I wanted to experience it again. I liked the movie and I hope to re-read this book soon.
Which of these movies did you love as well? Let me know and leave a link to your post!
I had forgotten about Almost Famous on my list! Love that one. Excellent choices.
That movie blew me away! Thank you!
Almost Famous! Easy A! The Breakfast Club! There are some great movies on this list. Have you seen Pretty in Pink/ Say Anything? More good 80s movies.
I’ve seen Say Anythng! I found it just okay. Will defintely watch Pretty in Pink sometime:)
Oh wow, I love this list! So many great films! The only one haven’t seen is Room. I also liked the book so not sure if I want to see the film – adaptations always give me the rage.
I can understand. We are always skeptical about adaptations but I really like this one! Thank for reading!:)
This was actually really really good. It gave me the feels and, although obviously the book was better, I think it was well done 🙂
Hannah Montana is actually one of my favorite Disney movies! I remember watching it the day it came out and being absolutely obsessed with the soundtrack. I still really enjoy it, especially Crazier by Taylor Swift. I love the lyrics and it is a very calming song.
I also love Easy A and The Breakfast Club. Basically I enjoy any movie with the high-school concept. It can be cliche, but I’ll still love it!
I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I loved Crazier and Butterfly Fly Away. I have been trying to find good high- school movies. I also thought The Duff was very well done!
I haven’t seen all of these, but I love The Breakfast Club & It’s a Wonderful Life! Both are classics to me for very different reasons. I always try to watch It’s a Wonderful Life around the holidays. It just makes me so happy!
I’ve only watched It’s a Wonderful Life once. Will definitely watch it again in the upcoming holidays!
And its really a heartwarming movie! I felt so good after watching it 🙂
It always makes me feel better about life in general.
I’ve never heard of How I Live Now – I’ll have to look for it. 🙂
Lauren @ Always Me
Sure do!
I have to watch The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants & Kite Runner! I totally forgot that there were film adaptations of those two! 🙂
Do watch them! The adaptation of the Kite Runner is amazing and the one of Sisterhood is good too!
It’s a Wonderful Life is such a great Christmas movie. I love watching it around that time of year, it leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy. 🙂
It does! I’m waiting for December to watch it:)
Breakfast club is one of my favourite movies ever!! I watch it every year 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it!
Hopefully I’ll watch it frequently too now!
